Life Saving Club
The Macmillan White Christmas Dip on Christmas Day is going to be a whole lot of fun, and we want everyone to thoroughly enjoy it and take away great memories. However we also want it to be a safe environment for everyone involved as there is an element of risk involved in running in to the sea in Winter.
Every year members of Southbourne Surf Life Saving Club come down to the event and keep a watchful eye on all of us, to make sure we are safe during our Dip. In addition to S.S.L.S.C. Lifeguards, there will also be an RNLI jet ski patrolling. On the day S.S.L.S.C. will be in charge of the decision as to whether it is safe to go in, or will issue us instructions on additional safety precautions.
We are very grateful to our Lifeguards who turn out every Christmas morning to help in our event. We wouldn't be able to do it without them. S.S.L.S.C. are currently fundraising to build a new HQ for their club, and by way of thanks we have made a contribution to their appeal. If you would like to know more about their Club click here, or to see their appeal please go here.
We have arranged for the main car park to be open all along the Prom next to Boscombe Pier on the day. Bearing in mind the number of participants and spectators, please allow enough time to park your car. Our volunteers will be on hand to direct you to available spaces.
I'll be in touch next week with final details.
We look forward to seeing you on the day.
