Women in Waves
Six ladies from Southbourne club went to Devon for the weekend to attend the women in waves even at Putsborough Beach on Saturday June 7th.
The 6 Ladies Representing Southbourne
It was a very dark, wet and miserable morning initially but this all changed as we arrived at the beach. There were 30 women attending. All of us received free T shirts. We then had a safety talk and a warm up session.
Then it was time to don the attractive (not) purple rash vests. We were divided into 3 groups. Each took turns at board paddling, SUPs and swimming.
Purple Rash Vests Including The Instructors
Our Southbourne group most enjoyed the board paddling and SUPs. The instructors were amazing. We learnt loads even the more experienced among us. The SUPs were quite difficult to manage in surf, completely different to a paddle at Boscombe! Most of us managed to ride some waves although none of us stayed upright the whole time which was a little worrying after spotting blue jelly fish in the water!
Ready For The Off
Throughout the day there was tea, coffee, hot chocolate and amazing cakes. The Lemon drizzle was without a doubt the best!
The day ended with a much needed massive burger and chips at the lovely cafe overlooking the beach.
Our Sanctuary After A Day In The Water
It was a day of sun, sand, sea, SUPs, board paddling, cake, giggles, laughter and burgers. All for £15, who's coming next year??!
