Join Us

We have 3 sections of membership, with the age as of 1st January.

Nippers - 7 to 12 year olds

Juniors - 12 to 16 year olds

Seniors - over 16 years of age

Nippers - Age 7 - 12

We encourage children as young as 7 to join the club, however they must be able to swim at least 25m. Children cannot compete in Surf Life Saving Competitions until they are 8 years old. For more information on activities, please go to the training section.

Juniors - 13 to 16

The entry levels for this section are similar to the nippers, they can compete in Surf Life Saving Competitions but with more emphasis on longer distances. Their beach training is more in-depth in readiness for beach patrolling when they reach 14, & once certain exams have been passed. Seniors - 16 to 29 and Masters 30+

Many of our Senior & Masters are qualified beach lifeguards or Life Savers, gaining their requisite qualifications through club-based training and experience. Members 16 years and over are encouraged to work towards the Beach Lifeguard award required for employment as a professional beach lifeguard in the UK and abroad. Regular Patrolling for the club is part of the Senior membership.

There are regular training sessions during the spring, summer and autumn at Southbourne Beach adjacent to the club for all sections.

During the winter we continue with training in an indoor swimming pool. We love to meet new members and offer a varied training programme in all the sports and lifesaving disciplines to keep everyone happy and stimulated. Membership Cost

Membership to the club costs £30 per year for all age groups per member, and this includes membership of SLSGB and cover provided by their insurance policy while engaged in Surf Life Saving Training or competitions.

Family membership is available on request.

PLEASE NOTE: Annual Membership fees are due 1st January of each year.
